TIVOLI - VIEW IMAGES 2008-2010 Tivoli Gardens, an amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen, Denmark, where people of different nationalities and ethnicities meet in a world of fantasy. An imaginary Orient with fake palaces and minarets is the backdrop of the park. It’s a surreal world, yet it mirrors the dreams and fears of life outside the entrance. Fiction versus Reality, (Middle)East versus West, war, ethnic/religious tensions, immigration, integration, dreams, fantasies, fears, nightmares, love, longing, loss all concentrated within the frame and fairytale of this world of imagination. IN TRANSIT - VIEW IMAGES 2003-2006 After living and working for 18 years in New York Birgitta Lund returned to Denmark in 2003. The move quickly manifested itself in her work and the conceptual photo-based project IN TRANSIT took form as a personal reflection on the transition between the United States and Europe. Evocations of the timeframe in which the move occurred: 9/11, the war in Iraq and the bombings in Madrid and London all echoes in a subtle manner throughout the work. The photographs are best described as a collection of visual poems FINGERS TOUCH UPON THE DRAWINGS OF MY HOUSE - VIEW IMAGES 1992-2002 The work is autobiographical—a psychological excavation of memory deeply rooted in childhood. |
